Launceston's Foray Into Indonesia

If the Mayor and GM picked up any intelligence in Indonesia it may have been worth the ratepayers' investment. Perhaps regular jaunts to Indonesia and like destinations to acquire "intelligence" should be embarked upon.

Launceston needs more intelligent decision making and ratepayers should be grateful to get it no matter where ever we can find it, so as it has been said before this is where we will find the bonus and get a bang out of our buck.

Mmmmmmmm ... LCC's Minutes record the following words from the Mayor after his recent trip ... oh well what do you make of it?

Tuesday 16-Thursday 18 October 2012
• "Travelled to Indonesia to attend the TradeExpo where good contacts were made. Had meetings with the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Indonesian Australian Bureau of Council. Like Japan, Indonesia values relationships and building rapport with people. Indonesia is a growing economy which could provide a lot of economic opportunities."

AND he said nothing about the weather nor the "intelligence" that presumably everyone brought back that will improve things enormously in Launceston.

This trip really does tick all the boxes and delivers bangs for all the bucks spent! Good one!

What a gross waste of taxpayers' money!

They could offer the exact same reasons for going anywhere.

Do they recognise the stress that many tax and ratepayers are in when they swan off on these obvious junkets?
