MORE HYDRO SPIN

Just couldn't resist putting this up ... Does it ring any bells??

"Our Vision and Values provide direction on what kind of organisation we are and how we conduct business. Our vision To be Tasmania's world-renowned renewable energy business. Our values

Our values are truly 'ours'. They were formed from input from all of our people and are reviewed periodically to ensure they are still reflective of who we are. Our values provide direction and clarity about the way we make decisions, achieve our goals, provide service to our customers, work together and care for the environment."

Launceston City Council and the Hydro must use the same spin doctor. Neither get value for money.

All this talk about cumecs had me really worried because I thought the greenies were trying to have flood conditions all year round.
How disappointing when you see the increased trickle.
IT REALLY IS JUST A TRICKLE, no exaggeration there !
Its time we all lobbied to shut down Trevallyn Power Station and let the river run free again. It was obviously a terrible mistake in 1955 to divert the South Esk River to satisfy that greedy Hydro Electric Commission and "Electric Eric" Reece. Sir Allan Knight sure had Eric hoodwinked all those years.
What a mistake to invite the Commonwealth Aluminium Company of Australia to set up in the Tamar Valley just to guts up the State's power supply. Even now it consumes 25% of our power in a secret deal that is said to be below cost of production. For the paltry couple of hundred people it has now shrunk to, it is no longer worth it and the State is better off without it, and so would our river system.
I'll bet this Government will find even more water from the South Esk River to feed that hungry pulp mill project, the one that was promised as a closed loop system, but now pumps all that water out to sea (with a bit more tossed into the soup as well).
If the Libyans can overthrow Gadaffi, surely Tasmanian's can throw out Premier LALA ???
Think about it and act.

The Hydo response , whilst entirely predictable, is an absolute disgrace. The figure they have ended up with wasnt one that appeared in any conversations I had with a large number of residents and ratepayers. The whole consultation was a waste of time in that they were NEVER going to increase it as it should be increased- I will continue to pursue this at council, the media and in letters to state parliament. I have publicly commented in council that Hydro seems to be a law unto itself..It has in the past few years pumped the daylights out of Arthurs lake and harmed the trout fishery- the recent rains have gone way to repairing their damage ; the central highlands trout fishery is one of the worlds best and these clowns had Arthurs lake at some of the lowest levels ever, weedbeds destroyed etc. A law unto themselves- Im pretty keen to make them accountable; a pity there arent any state politicians with the spine to go after them on this..
